One dies in house fire

According to Kentucky State Police, one person  died Nov. 24 from injuries sustained in a suspicious house fire in Ewing on Nov. 11. Mickey D. Shrout sustained third degree burns over 40 percent of his body in the fire and was airlifted to the UK Hospital. He was pronounced dead late on Nov. 24. The accident is under investigation by Detective Larry Bowling of KSP.

Mr. Deal

William Jacob "Jake" Deal Jr., age 97, of Elizaville, passed away Tuesday morning.
Mr. Deal was retired from Fleming Mason RECC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.
He was born in Fleming County, March 6, 1912, the son of the late William Jacob and Adra Payne Deal.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Medlen Deal.
Survivors include a son, William S. (Karen) Deal of New Albany, Ind.; a daughter, Carolyn Sue (Clifford) Beck of Killbuck, Ohio; three grandchildren, Janette L. Deal, Chad and Michelle Mineer; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m., Saturday at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery with military rites by the W.N. Fant Post of the American Legion and Franklin Sousley Post VFW.
Visitation is after 6 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
