Harold Romanick, 79, of Louisville, passed away on Sun, Feb 22, 2009. He retired from the U. S. Army after 21 years of service, was a teacher for the Jefferson County Schools for 17 years, a member of Shively Masonic Lodge 951, and Ralph Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Bessie McVey Romanick. Survivors include his nephew, Joseph P. Drago; nieces, Eleanor Fitz-Randolph, Barbara Garbinski, and Irene Ellis; and his friend and neighbor, Fronda Schwartz. Funeral services will be 11am Thu, Denton-Workman Funeral Home, 405 South Main Cross Street, Flemingsburg, KY with burial in Owingsville Cemetery, Owingsville, KY. Visitation will be from 3-7pm Wed. Boyd "Nick" Reed Sr., 80, of the Goddard community passed away Saturday night at St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead.
Mr. Reed was president of Grant County Steel in Marion, Ind.
He was born in Bath County on June 19, 1928. His parents were the late Boone Reed and Ida Bailey Hawkins.
His wife, Lucy M. Reed preceded him in death in 2008.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy Caldwell of Marion and Jane (Roger) Adkins of Flemingsburg; one son, Boyd (Anita) Reed Jr. of Marion; four sisters, Mildred Stevens of Fairbanks, Ohio, Elizabeth Wilson of Lawes, Fla., Emma Gaddis of Harrodsburg and Louise Hockensmith of Frankfort; and 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grandchildren Boyd L. Adkins and Carrie Jane Parker; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services 1 p.m., Wednesday at the Wallingford Methodist Church where Mr. Reed was a member. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Park in Flemingsburg.
Visitation after 6 p.m., Tuesday at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.
Billie Allen "Bondo" Mason, 53, of Wallingford died as the result of an automobile accident on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1956, in Bracken County to Erma Cunningham Mason of Wallingford and the late Clarence William Mason.
Mr. Mason spent many years working as a grave digger for Leroy Conn and many community cemeteries in the immediate area.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Roberts Mason of Wallingford; three sons, Christopher William Mason and his wife Jessica, William Allen Mason, and Anthony Leon Mason, all of Wallingford; one granddaughter, Kyra Elizabeth Lynn Mason; a brother, Robert Wayne Mason and wife Jacquelyn of Wallingford; and four sisters, Linda Sue Highfield of Little Cabin Creek, Carol Ann Workman and husband Donnie of Ewing, Penny Jo Hord and husband Dale of Flemingsburg, and Mary Beth Hernandez and husband Ruben of Goddard.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher William Mason Jr.
Funeral services 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at the Barbour and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Redmond officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Park, Flemingsburg. Pallbearers Donnie Workman, Dale Hord, Christopher Mason, Robert Mason, Ruben Hernandez, Larry Roberts, Dustin Thacker, and Leroy Conn.
Visitation 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at the funeral home.

FLEMINGSBURG -- Ernest Thomas Whisman, 67, of Flemingsburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at the Fleming County Hospital.
He was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, on March 15, 1941. His parents were the late Alvin and Lorena F. Jones Whisman.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Johnson Whisman of Flemingsburg; one daughter, Monica Whisman of Flemingsburg; two sons, Thomas (Tina) Whisman and Douglas (Cindy) Whisman, all of Flemingsburg; four sisters, Marilyn (Wayne) Tyree of Flemingsburg, Margaret (Albert) Mitchell of Lewisburg, Linda (Randall) Jackson of Carlisle and Barbara Marshall of Flemingsburg; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Garr Whisman.
Services are 1 p.m., Saturday at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Pastor Randall Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Wallingford Cemetery.
Visitation is after 11 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Lucy B. May Barnes, age 86, of Ewing, KY passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Phil Carpenter, in Flemingsburg. She has resided at the home of her daughter, Barbara Osborn for the past four years.
She was born in Ewing, KY on Sept. 19, 1922 to the late Charles M. and Dully Stout Darnall. She was a homemaker, a retired employee of K-Mart, and was a member of the Winchester Church of God Cathedral. Recently, she had been attending the Chariot of Fire Fellowship in Fairview, KY.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by two daughters, Barbara Osborn of Ewing, KY and Berverly Carpenter (Phil) of Flemingsburg, KY; three sons, James L. May (Delane) of Winchester, KY, John D. May (Joyce) of Lexington, KY and Jerry M. May of Winchester, KY; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lyda C. Darnall and Velma Argo; and five brothers, Robert, William, Ira, Julian, and Charles Jr. Darnall.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2009 at the Winchester Church of God Cathedral by Pastor David Douglas and Pastor Bobby Proctor. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the church. Following the funeral service, a visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville, KY. Interment will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anthony W. Carpenter, Brian M. Osborn, David S. May, Jeremy Buckner, Steven Warner, James Tyler Ward, and Bruce, Tim, and Tony Darnall.
