Mr. Hickerson

Roy Brooks Hickerson, 82, of Flemingsburg died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Morehead.

He was born in Fleming County, July 8, 1927, to the late Russell Garr Hickerson and Ada Gardner Hickerson.

He was a retired farmer and and laborer at U.S.Shoe.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Bateman Hickerson.

He is survived by two sons, Roy (Sue) Hickerson of Ewing and Larry (Sharon) Hickersion of Flemingsburg; one daughter Mabel (Ronnie) Leet of Ewing; and four sisters, Mary (Larry) Harper of Ashland, Ohio, Lena (Charles) McGone of Wallingford, Iolene (Richard) Hamm of Wallingford and Janet (Kim) Brewer of Fleming County; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Hickerson; and one grandchild.

Services are 1 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2010, at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home in Flemingsburg. Rev. Ronnie Conley will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hyatt

Evadna Besslean Hyatt, 92, of Flemingsburg died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at her residence.

She was born in Fleming County on March 3, 1918, to the late Herbert A. Story and Lena Pearl Selby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Wilson Hyatt.

She was a housewife.

She is survived by two sons, Elmo (Barb) Hyatt of Columbia, Tenn. and Jewett (Paula) Hyatt of Flemingsburg; one daughter, Phyllis (Harold) Peters of Flemingsburg; six grandchildren, Sheri (Ben) Phillips, Michael Peters, Stephanie (Charles) Mains, Ron (Terri) Hyatt, Samantha (John) Burford and John (April) Hyatt; 18 great-grandchildren, Shannan Prwett, Benjamin Phillips, Brandan Phillips, Michael E. Peters, Justin M. Peters, Kyle Peters, Jimmy Peters, Benjamin Mains, Grace Mains, Gabrielle Hyatt, Wilson Hyatt, Samantha Hyatt, Makenzie Burford, Mallory Burford, Marley Burford, Zachary Hyatt, Austin Hyatt, Macy Hyatt; and two great-great-grandchildren, Alyssa Prwett and Kaleb Prwett.

She was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Amanda Phillips.

Services are 1 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2010, at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home in Flemingsburg. Rev. Norman Wasson. Rev. Peter Morgan, Rev. Lynn Beech and Dr. Chris Beckham will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Catania

Lori Jan Hickerson Catania, 36, of Flemingsburg died Tuesday at Fleming County Hospital.

She was born in Fleming County on March 15, 1974, to William L. "Jay" and Betty Hamm Hickerson Jr. of Flemingsburg.

She was the wife of Brian Catania of Flemingsburg.

She is survived by one son, Elijah Catania of Flemingsburg; three brothers, Wayne (Linda) Hickerson of Flemingsburg, Barry (Michelle) Hickerson of Tollesboro and Jason (Ginny) Hickerson of Flemingsburg; paternal grandmother, Carol B. Hickerson of Flemingsburg and the late William L. Hickerson Sr.; maternal grandparents, the late Robert and Maggie Hamm.

Also surviving is a special friend, Cheryl Wright of Flemingsburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services are 11 a.m., Friday, at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Rev. Steve Hickerson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Wallingford Cemetery.

Visitation is after 6 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Tustin

William Lewis Tustin Jr., age 74, of Plummers Landing passed away Sunday at his residence.

Mr. Tustin was a retired musician and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Ramey's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mr. Tustin was born in Columbus, Ohio, Aug. 8, 1935. His parents were the late William Lewis and Mildred Williams Tustin.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Ingram Tustin; four daughters, Sandy Yenicheck of Columbus, Lori Blevins of Akron, Ohio, Connie Miller of Canton, Ohio, and Lisa (Gary) Miller of Flemingsburg; three sons, Steven Tustin of Columbus, Nelson Ferguson of Columbus, and Don Ferguson of Jackson, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services are 11 a.m., Thursday at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Hickerson Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery with military rites performed by the American Legion Post and VFW Post of Flemingsburg.

Visitation at Boone-Nickell Funeral home is after 6 p.m., Wednesday.

Mrs. Evans

Jettie Opal Mitchell Evans, age 72, of Carlisle passed this life April 26, 2010, in Lexington.

Jettie was a loving wife and mother.

She was born in Fleming County, May 17, 1938, to Elmer and Mable Hughes Mitchell.

Jettie is survived by her husband of 54 years, Billy Evans; one daughter, Patty (Joe) Evans of Carlisle; four sons, Sterling (Mary Ann) Evans, Gary (Bonnie) Evans, Jay (Ramona) Evans of Carlisle, and Timmy (Tracey) Evans of Paris; one daughter-in-law, Shelly Evans of Cynthiana; a sister, Jennie Gray and, a brother, William Clay Mitchell of Fleming County; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Jettie was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Lynn Evans.

She will be dearly missed by everyone.

Services are 2 p.m., Friday at Price Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Don Toy officiating.

Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Shepard

Owen Robert Shepard, 56, of Flemingsburg died Sunday, April 25, 2010.

He was born Dec. 22, 1953, to the late Hazel Hood Shepard and Lawrence Shepard.

Owen was a laborer for Toyo Seat.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Collis Shepard of Flemingsburg; two daughters, Margaret (Wayne) Coffey and Rachel Shepard, all of Flemingsburg; five sisters, Grace Kivisto of North Henderson, Ill., Lori Hatch, Bernadine Collis, Jo Ann Allex, and Dixie Bell, all of Gaylesburg, Ill.; and three granddaughters, Haley Coffey, Madison Coffey and Zoe Coffey.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter; two brothers; and one sister.

Services are 1 p.m.. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home in Flemingsburg.

Burial will follow in the Goddard Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Mr. Brown

 

Roger Dale Brown, age 41, of Fraley Road, Salt Lick, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010, at his residence.

He was born August 5, 1968, in Elliott County, Kentucky, son of Jasper Brown, Jr. of Morehead, Kentucky, and the late Hazel Marie Trent Brown, who passed away January 1, 2008. He was also preceded him in death by a half-brother, Virgil Darrell Hall, and a nephew, Chad David Brown.

In addition to his father, Roger is survived by one son, Jason Brown of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Vanessa Howard and husband Bobby Ray of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; three brothers, David Randall (Randy) Brown of Owingsville, Kentucky, Talmadge Junior (Timmy) Brown of Morehead, Kentucky, and Ricky Brown of Hillsboro, Kentucky; five sisters, Marita Justine Adkins of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Judy Kay Crum of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Michella Renae Mabry of Morehead, Kentucky, Shawna Marie Goldie of Owingsville, Kentucky, and Genevie Payne of Morehead, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

Roger was employed as a mechanic at Valley View Hardwoods, Inc.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ray Glover officiating. Burial will follow in the Trent Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Mabry, Billy Adkins, Shawn Adkins, Sammy Adkins, Bobby Howard, John Johnson, and Roman Patrick.
