Mrs. Alexander

Virginia Thacker Alexander, 54, of Riddle Road, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital, Mount Sterling. She was born April 17, 1956, in Wabash, Ind. to the late Willie Glen Thacker and Bernice Ruth Dailey.

Virginia was a food service worker in a restaurant.

She is survived by three daughters, Dusky (Jeremy) Ginn, Daphne Robinson and Crystal Thacker; two brothers, Daryl Thacker and Audie Thacker; four sisters, Justina Thacker, Belinda Thacker, Katrina Bales and Angela Chase; and five grandchildren, Alesha, James, Chloe Robinson, Brandon and Heath Ginn. She was preceded in death by twin girls.

Graveside services 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010 at the Elizaville Cemetery Chapel in Elizaville with Bro. Jim Porter officiating.

“Ghost Out” at Fleming County High School today

Program seeks to educate students on the dangers of impaired driving

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 27, 2010)--The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety is coordinating a “Ghost Out” at Fleming County High School today.  This program utilizes the Grim Reaper to select students throughout the morning; each representing a victim in an alcohol or drug related crash. Once removed from their peers, victims write their own obituary.  A mock funeral for these victims is held during an afternoon assembly, with classmates watching as each one is laid to rest.

Mrs. McCord

Martha Marie Jarvis McCord, 83, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

She was born Feb. 2, 1927 in Rome, Ohio to the late Henry and Lucy Jarvis.

She was the widow of Morton McCord who died in 1981.

She is survived by two daughters, Susie (Cecil) Wilson of Flemingsburg and Judy (Scott) Fryman of Ewing; four sons, Ron McCord of Somerville, Texas, Mike McCord of Carlisle, Steve McCord of Wallingford, and Kenny (Carol) McCord of College Station, Texas; a sister, Kay (Ken) Moore of Danville; four brothers, Harold (Grace) Jarvis of West Union, Ohio, Robert (Itha) Jarvis of Bentonville, Ohio, Frank (Irene) Hoadley Jr. of South Dakota and Donald Hoadley of Missouri; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Edgar Dean McCord and Wayne McCord; two sisters, Ivy Gallagher and Bertha Edmisten; and a brother, Clarence Jarvis.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Hickerson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery.

Visitation after 5 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Muse

Mary Ann Muse, 56, of Clearfield died Wednesday Sept. 22, 2010 at St Clair Regional Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 27, 1953 in Fleming County to the late Asa Muse and Shirley Muse.

She is survived by her mother, Shirley Muse of Clearfield; one daughter, Angela Muse of Clearfield; one son, Thomas L. Muse III of Illinois; two brothers, Herbert Owen Muse and Howard Muse of Morehead; long-time companion, Cliff Smith of West Liberty; and two grandchildren.

Burial at 1 p.m., Tuesday in West Liberty Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in West Liberty.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Monday at Boone -Nickell Funeral Home.

Mr. Mitchell

Lowell Mitchell, 87, of Orlando, Fla. died Sept 13, 2010.

He was the son of the late Roy and Ruby Phelps Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Mitchell; a son, Rick (Rita) Mitchell of Centerville, Ohio; and a daughter, Donna (Miguel) Serrano of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, Tina Borden, Angie Burris, Jason and Christopher Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Tatum, Tristan, Antonio, Alexandra, Emma and Andrew; and two brothers, Kenny (Hazel) Mitchell of Orlando, Fla., and Scottie (Loretta) Mitchell of Flemingsburg.

Graveside services 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26 , 2010 in the Elizaville Cemetery with Rev. Dan Burris officiating.

Mrs. McRoberts

Ruby Katherine McLean McRoberts, 92, of Cincinnati, formerly of Hillsboro died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at her home.

Born Nov. 24, 1917, in Fleming County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Bessie Hunt McLean.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Jay McRoberts on May 22, 1971; and one daughter, Betty Lou McRoberts.

She is survived by two sons, Glennis (Claudia) McRoberts of Cincinnati, and Wendel (Jan) Vice of Dawsonville, Ga.; one daughter, Shirley (Bill) Conway of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Jason and Jonathan McRoberts, Robin Heiny, Wayne and R. J. Conway and Tina Couch; and 10 great-grandchildren, Greta and Megan McRoberts, Amber Waymire, Wade Heiny, Stephanie Lormans, Courtney Cordova, Shane, Sarah, Chase and Brody Conway.

Mrs. McRoberts retired from U.S. Shoe in Flemingsburg and was a former cook at the Fleming County Middle School. She was a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at the Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Cannon officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Conway, Ewell Vice, Wendell Johnson, Jason McRoberts, Wayne Conway, Harry Goldstein, and Jonathan McRoberts.

Visitation is after 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at the Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

Mrs. Hawkins

Marguerite Elizabeth Hunt Hawkins, 80, of Flemingsburg died Sept. 20, 2010, at Flemingsburg.

She was born May 28, 1930, in Fleming County, the daughter of the late Russell D. and Mary Mitchell Hunt.

She was the widow of Raymond Lee Hawkins.

She is survived by a son, Tedd Hawkins of Carlisle; a daughter Peggy (Darrell) Seithers of Paris; three grandchildren, Marty Ray (Kay) Seither, Teddy Lee Hawkins and Casey Shane Seithers; a great-grandchild, Michael Philipp Seither; three brothers, Harold Hunt, Jimmy Hunt of Lexington, and J.C. (Mary Ann) Hunt of Gas City, Ind.; and two sisters, Janice Flora of Elizaville, and Emogene Bailey of Dayton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie Hunt, Donald (Pop) Hunt and R.D. Hunt; and two sisters, Virginia Stephens and Freda Kerns.

Services are 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Anderson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
