Mrs. Sparkman

Eva Ann Ison Kissick Sparkman, age 68, of Lafayette Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at her residence.

She was born February 23, 1942, in Rowan County, Kentucky, daughter of the late George W. and Rissie Alice Adkins Ison. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold Ison and Earl Ison, and one sister, Loretta Sparkman.

Eva is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Velda Kissick and Jeff and Connie Kissick and two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy (Sissy) and David Thomas and Becky and Levi Banks, all of Morehead, Kentucky; ten grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Other survivors include four brothers, James Ison, Rev. Cecil Ison, Donald Ison, and Ival Ison, all of Morehead, Kentucky; two sisters, Darlene Morehouse of Batavia, Ohio, and Carol Foster of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; a host of nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Carlotta Banks and Amy Gregory.

Eva was a homemaker and a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Andy Lands and the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Grandsons, Jason Thomas, Brandon Kissick, Jacob Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Jobe Banks, and Jason Stevens.

Honorary pallbearers: Granddaughters, Miranda Deem, Jessica Thomas, Ashley Stevens, Abby Kissick, and DeAnna Kissick.

Visitation was after 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.

Mrs. Dotson

Ida Marie Dotson, 91, of Flemingsburg died Monday, April 19, 2010, at the Fleming County Hospital.

She was the widow of Robert Dotson.

Mrs. Dotson was born in Robertson County on Jan. 8, 1919, to the late William Hildreth and Lucy Etna Hitt Stitt.

She is survived by one daughter, Lucy White of Flemingsburg; one son, Robert (Linda) Dotson, of Union, Ohio; one sister, Verna May of Mason County; one brother, Paul Stitt of Mason County; seven grandchildren, Kathy Blankenship of Flemingsburg, Randy (Rhonda) White of Mason County, David White, Danny White and Donald Ray (Candis) White, all of Fleming County, Brian (Lynn) Dotson, of Union, and Darryl (Michelle) Dotson of Union; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, John White; and eight brothers and sisters, Margaret Ellison, Ruby Hurst, Delores Purcell, Audrey Fulton, Marcella Huddleston, Emma Dubel, Thelma Gallagher and Thomas Stitt.

Services at 1 p.m., Thursday at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg. Rev. Danny Howard will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.

Visitation after 11 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Buzzard

Edith Howard Buzzard, 88, of Flemingsburg passed from this life April 18, 2010, in the Fleming County Hospital.

Mrs. Edith was the widow of George F. Buzzard, who died Oct. 30, 1973.

Mrs. Edith is survived by three sons, Arthur (Fay) Buzzard of Nicholas County, Larry (Brenda) Buzzard of Flemingsburg and Gary (Jannie) Buzzard of Ewing; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Buzzard of Paris; three brothers, Frank Howard, Paul (Patsy) Howard and Henry (Deloris) Howard all of Paris; four sisters, Ruby (J.W.) Deatley of Carlisle, Barbara Arnald and Geneva Howard of Bourbon County, Margaret L. (Carl) Leggit of Montgomery County; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Edith was preceded in death by two children, Barbara Jean Buzzard and Bill Buzzard; two brothers, Melvin Howard and Orville Howard; and one sister, Thelma McCord.

Funeral services 2 p.m., Wednesday, at Price Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. James Humphries and Rev. Rich Anderson officiating. Burial in Elizaville Cemetery.

Visitation 5-9 p.m., today at the funeral home.

Events could affect traffic in Maysville, Flemingsburg

 

On KY 8, KY 32X

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. – The Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 has approved permits for two road closures that will affect traffic during community events next weekend in Maysville and Flemingsburg.

In Maysville, local authorities will partially close KY 8 from West Second Street to near US 62 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, for the Buffalo Trace Children’s Advocacy Center 5K Run-Walk. Police will provide traffic control.

In Flemingsburg, local authorities will close a portion of East Water Street and West Water Street (KY 32X) downtown on Saturday, April 24, for the annual Little League Day Parade. The parade begins at 9 a.m. Police will provide traffic control.

Motorists should be prepared for a change in traffic patterns during these local events.

Mr. McCormick

Sammie Fred McCormick, 55, of Shady Lawn Nursing Home, Cynthiana died Thursday, April 8. He was the son of the late George Thomas and Nettie Blankenship McCormick.

He worked at January-Wood Company.

He is survived by Beuford (Janet) McCormick of Tollesboro, Willie (Janet) McCormick of Lewis County, Donnie (Ruby) McCormick of Minerva, Rose (Alan) Merritt of Washington, and Phyllis Gregory of Flemingsburg.

Preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence McCormick and a sister, Helen McCormick.

Services will be at a later date.

Mr. Boulden

H. Eugene Boulden, 83, of May's Lick passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Second Baptist Church.

Mr. Boulden was born in Fleming County on Sept. 5, 1926, son of the late Horace Franklin and Indianola Turner Boulden.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Emma Ewing Boulden; one son, William E. (Bonnie) Boulden of May's Lick; two daughters, Linda (Timothy) Habern of Cynthiana and Anna (Damon) Turner of Maysville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother Theodore Boulden of Milford, Ohio; three sisters, Stella Boyd of Maysville, Mattie Chadwell and Rebecca Horton of Lexington; and a step-brother, Melvin Jones of Toledo,  Ohio. Several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Clarola Williams and Mary Katherine Ramsey.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday at Second Baptist Church in May's Lick.

Interment will follow in the May's Lick Cemetery.

Visitation is noon-2 p.m., Friday at the church.
