Mr. Vice

Roy “Tom” Vice, age 75, of West High Street, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at St. Joseph - Mt. Sterling.

Born June 16, 1935, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Albert and Henrietta Hudson Vice. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ira Lee Vice, Billy Vice, and Leonard Vice, and six sisters, Lula Wilson, Lillian Donaldson, Mary Katherine Cooper, Nettie Mae Munday, Elizabeth Toy, and Betty Cobb.

Tom is survived by one brother, Charles “Buddy” Vice of Lexington, Kentucky; four sisters, Alma Vice and Edna Henry, both of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Bertie Razor of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and Virginia Brooks of Lexington, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Vice was a retired farmer.

Private graveside services were conducted 11 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2010, at Machpelah Cemetery with Rev. Lloyd Latimer officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.

Rev. Hill

Rev. Leroy Hill, age 92, of Floral City, Florida, passed away at home on Friday, October 22, 2010, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County, Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie Fugett Hill; three sons, Michael (Barbara) Hill, Flemingsburg, KY; Neil (Terri) Hill, Dunnellon, FL; David Hill, Inverness, FL; 2 daughters, Martha (Rollin) Sutfin, Tarpon Springs, FL; Mary (Larry) Highley, Owingsville, KY; 1 brother, George (Jean) Hill, Morehead, KY; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A native of West Virginia, he was born on August 3, 1918, to the late Roy and Dorothy Jonas Hill and moved to Florida in 1972 from Morehead, Kentucky. He was a retired minister and farmer and was employed by General Telephone (GTE) for over 35 years. After moving to Florida, he was the founding pastor of the First Church of God in Brooksville, FL and served the First Church of God of Inverness, FL for many years. He served our country in the U.S. Navy.

Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Guy McKenzie officiating with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Pallbearers: Terrence Hill, Ryan Hill, Trent Hill, Ben Hill, Larry Highley, and Kevin Highley.

Visitation is from noon until 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.

Mr. Dailey

Noble Dailey, 85, of Milford, Ohio died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010.

He was born March 28, 1925, in Fleming County to the late Charlie and Clara Vice Dailey.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by his special friend of more than 50 years, June Williams of Milford; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl Dailey, Robert (Bob) Dailey, Stanley Dailey and Ronnie Dailey; and four sisters, Lillie Saunders, Gladys Perkins, Mary Ishmael, and Lottie Harmon.

Services are 1 p.m., today, Oct. 25, 2010, at Denton-Workman Funeral Home with Rev. Gail Skaggs officiating.

Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Visitation was Sunday.

Mr. Doyle

Chester Willium Doyle, 88, of Wallingford, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Maysville Rehab and Extended Care.

He was a farmer and carpenter and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Doyle was born Nov. 4, 1921, in Fleming County, the son of the late Gracie Marie Ackley Doyle and Leonard W. Doyle.

Survivors include two sons, Denny (Roberta Eubanks) Doyle of Flemingsburg and Dallas (Teresa) Doyle of Maysville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Jean White Doyle; a brother, Cecil A. Doyle; and a sister, Anna Rose Hamm.

Services are 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at Denton-Workman Funeral Home with Bro. Hilary Underwood officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m., today at the funeral home.

Wizbang ribbon cutting

On Thursday, October 21, 2010, the Fleming County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Wizbang & Friends Pet Grooming, located at 2515 Bypass Road in Flemingsburg (between Big Blue Outdoor and H & R Block). Wizbang & Friends Pet Grooming is owned by Elizabeth Roe, Groomer, and they are open Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 AM - 5 PM. They offer complete pet grooming services for both dogs and cats. On Tuesday, October 19, 2010, the Fleming County Chamber of Commerce and Fleming County Farm Bureau sponsored a "meet the candidates" breakfast and forum. This event was open to the general public as well as members of the Chamber or Farm Bureau. Candidates who participated in the forum had two minutes to answer a question they chose by random draw that morning, and then another two minutes to either respond to their opponent's question or to give a summary statement. After the official forum questions had been answered, moderator Larry Gooding opened the floor to questions from the audience.

The Chamber and Farm Bureau would like to thank the candidates who participated: incumbent Larry Foxworthy, running for Judge-Executive; incumbent Scotty Royse, running for Sheriff; incumbent David DeAtley, running for Magistrate in District 2; incumbent Connie Crain, running for PVA; Bob Gossett, running for PVA; Tim Cooper, running for Jailer; and Randy Hunt, running for Jailer. We would also like to thank State Representative Mike Denham for joining us at this event. Mrs. Whisman

Leona Jean Whisman, 76, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at the Fleming County Hospital after a long illness.

She was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Lewis County to the late Zolar and Tressie Thurman.

She was a retired caretaker for the elderly.

She is survived by her husband, Emery Richard "Bud" Whisman; one son, LeRoy Whisman; one daughter, Diana Whisman; six grandchildren, Monica Lewis Marshall, John W. Lewis, Brandon Lewis, Jana Whisman, Katie (Chet) Logan and Amanda Whisman; three great-grandchildren, Taylor and Hunter Marshall and Myra Logan; one brother, William Hardy; and five sisters, Anna Mae Long, Ruby McKee, Dorothy Caudill, Elsie (Cleve) King and Beatrice (Eddie) Vice.

Services 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.

Burial in the Fleming County Cemetery.

Visitation 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
