Raymond E. Smalley, 76, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away June 2 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. He was born October 14, 1932, in Fleming County, the first son of Archie Lee and Dora Agnes (Rankin) Smalley. Raymond was a machinist having worked at both Brinkman Tool and Die and at Linden Tool in Dayton. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Elizabeth “Betty” (Watson) Smalley, daughters Connie Ferguson and Sandy (Steve) Johnson of Xenia, a son Victor Smalley of Cape Canaveral, Fla., grandchildren Joshua Smalley, Cassandra Smalley, Amy Ferguson, Jessica Ferguson, Andrew Johnson and Zachery Johnson, great grandchildren Anna Kay Smalley, Zylia Daniel Smalley, Ava Marie Ferguson, and a baby Cantor on the way as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Daniel Martin Smalley in 2004 and a daughter Anita Smalley in 1996.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 5, at the McColaugh Funeral Home in Xenia with Pastor Kenneth Moore officiating. Burial was in the Valley View Memorial Gardens.
