Jessie Leroy Hodges, age 76, of Kentucky 801 North, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Born May 21, 1933, in Lucedale, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Lafayette and Mable Jackson Hodges. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Hodges, on November 11, 2007; a son-in-law, Glenn Moore, on August 11, 2008; and three brothers, Jake, Rudolph, and Jewell Hodges.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma Ellington Hodges; two sons, Leroy Hodges, Jr., and wife Joann of Morehead, Kentucky, and Steve Hodges and wife Cindy of Hillsboro, Kentucky; three daughters, Paula Hinton and husband Buddy of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Viki Brown and husband Terry of Morehead, Kentucky, and Rhonda Hodges Moore of Morehead, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Leroy was a farmer and former owner of Local Sanitation. He enjoyed fishing.
Funeral services were conducted 4 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark Caldwell, Rev. Forest Tackett, and Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial was in the Black Family Cemetery on Sharkey Road.
Pallbearers were Matthew Hinton, Adam Hinton, Nathan Hinton, Ty Brown, Josh Brown, Jesse Hodges, Bo Lambert, and Curtis Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers were Leigh Ann Lambert, Hillary Moore, Stevi Hodges, and Mandy Moore.
Visitation was Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
