Benjamin (BF) Franklin Smith Jr., 83, of Flemingsburg died Monday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
He was a retired landowner and the former owner of the Whip N Sip. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the widower of Mona Saunders Smith.
Mr. Smith was born March 9, 1926, in Fleming County, the son of the late Benjamin F. and Alene Hawkins Smith.
He is survived by a son, Craig Smith of Flemingsburg; two daughters, Suzanne (Dickie) Flora of Fleming County, and Jennifer (Tony) Benner of Flemingsburg; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 11 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the Fleming County Cemetery with Bro. Michael Burnett officiating and with military rites by the Flemingsburg American Legion and VFW. Burial will follow.
There will be no visitation.
The Denton-Workman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
