FLEMINGSBURG - Due to a change in construction schedules, the temporary closure of a bridge on Kelley Pike in Fleming County will begin Tuesday, Oct. 20 - two days earlier than expected.
Construction is starting on a $267,000 project to replace an aging bridge on Kelley Pike (KY 860) at Johnson Creek.
Contractors will remove the existing narrow span and install a new and wider culvert-style concrete bridge, which will require a temporary road closure.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Kelley Pike will be closed to all traffic at the construction site for approximately three weeks. A detour route will be marked along Junction Road (KY 170), Convict Pike (KY 559) and Helena Road (KY 1200).
The highway improvement project is part of $24.2 million in Transportation Cabinet contracts awarded recently in Department of Highways District 9.
Work on the project is expected to be complete by Nov. 30, weather permitting.
