FLEMINGSBURG -- Martha Avent Eubank Dorsey died Monday morning, March 15, 2010, after a brief residency at the Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg.
She was born April 23, 1918, in Limestone County, Ala., the daughter of Olivia Kelly Eubank Pryor and Henry Eubank, who was the deputy sheriff of Limestone County, Ala.
Martha came to Kentucky when her mother married Rev. Samual Pleasant Pryor and he was assigned minister of the Presbyterian Church of Flemingsburg.
Martha was married to Bernard Dorsey, who died March 15, 2003.
Mrs. Dorsey attended Eastern Kentucky University and Pikeville College. She was a home economics teacher at Fleming County High School until her retirement. She was a member of the Flemingsburg Presbyterian Church and the D.A.R.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Dorsey Ramey (late Charles Ramey) of Elizaville and Mary Jane Dorsey Evans (Glenn Evans) of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren, Kristopher K. Ramey, Amanda K. Ramey, Robert S. Ramey (Ashley J. Ramey) and Olivia Evans; and a brother, William Eubank.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Parker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Flemingsburg Presbyterian Church of Flemingsburg or the FCCLA Chapter at Fleming County High School.
Arrangements under the direction of the Denton-Workman Funeral Home are incomplete at this time.
