Mr. Smith

Edward Smith, Jr., age 65, of Hope Hill Road, Flemingsburg, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.

He was born April 18, 1943, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Edward and Juanita Stewart Smith.

Survivors include five sons, Sgt Daniel Smith and wife Stefani of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, GySgt Joseph Smith and wife Melanie of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, SSG Jonathan Smith currently serving in Afghanistan, Jeremy Smith and wife Amber of Morehead, Kentucky, and SSG Timothy Smith and wife Ashley of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; two daughters, Lisa Smith and friend Allison Cohen of Boca Raton, Florida, and Kristi Bailey and husband Darold of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Jim Smith of Morehead, Kentucky, and Gary Gene Smith of Clay City, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Edward served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in Germany and Puerto Rico. He earned a B.S. Degree from Morehead State University and was a former employee of the Raymond Construction Company of Naples, Florida, accountant, and insurance salesman.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Clayton Stacey and Brother Brooks Karrick officiating.

Full military rites will be conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be the five sons and son-in-law.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
