Johnson charged with Hillsboro break-ins

According to The Ledger Independent, oplice have found a man who they say is responsible for a pair of September break-ins at Hillsboro Elementary School.
Shane C. Johnson, 23, of Hillsboro, faces four felony charges and one misdemeanor charge after officials said he admitted to Fleming County Sheriff's investigators he broke into the school.
Employees arrived at school Sept. 15, to find the building had been broken into and reported to police a drill, cash and electronic equipment was missing. The school was broken into again on Sept. 18. Although nothing was missing after the second break-in, there was damage to the property. Officials believed the assailant was looking for cash during the second break-in but did not find any money.
Johnson was indicted by the grand jury for a Class D felony, theft by unlawful taking/firearm, but failed to show for a court date when a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
The sheriff picked up Johnson on Nov. 3, for that charge. At that time, deputies questioned Johnson about the break-ins, and he allegedly admitted to the crime. He also told deputies he was under the influence of pills during the break-ins, according to Royse.
Johnson was taken to the Mason County Detention Center where he is being held without bond due to his failure to appear in court. On Tuesday, he was charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking over $500 for the Sept. 15 robbery. All those charges are considered Class D felonies. He was also charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, for the Sept. 18 break-in.
