Mr. Tumey

James Douglas "Doug" Tumey, 66 of Ewing, departed this earth on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Mason County on Sept. 20, 1944, a son of the late Clinton and Audrey Purcell Tumey.

Mr. Tumey retired from Jockey International after 36 years.  He was a member of the Ewing Volunteer Fire Department for many years; was sworn in as constable of Ewing in 1989; had served as a deputy sheriff for Fleming County for many years; and was a member of the Mount Tabor United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Morgan.

Survivors include his loving, dedicated wife of 47 years, Sandi Overbey Tumey; one daughter, Paula (Ernie) Knipp of Ewing; one son, Jamie (Heather) Tumey of Ewing; one sister, Debbie (David) Pepper of Ewing; nine grandchildren, Laura, Jeremiah, Christine, Toshia, Lexie, Tyler, Maddie, Jaden and Cami all of Ewing; and several nieces and nephews.

Full firefighters funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Mount Tabor United Methodist Church with Bro. Ron Gill, Bro. Greg Grimes and Bro. Bill Leet officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Ewing Fire Department.

Visitation after 6 p.m., Wednesday at Price Brothers Funeral Home.
