Mrs. Ishmael

Neva Hamilton Ishmael, age 66, of Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

She was born April 14, 1944, on Mud Sock Road in Fleming County, and was the daughter of the late Lander and Lillie Mae Dailey Hamilton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James Hamilton, Clarence "Bud" Hamilton, Leland "Buck" Hamilton and Robert Lee "Bob" Hamilton; and three sisters, Lillian Vice, Pearl Thacker and Milda Moore.

Neva is survived by her husband of 47 years, Albert A. "Ab" Ishmael, Sr., whom she married Oct. 9, 1963; one son, Albert "Hookie" Ishmael Jr. and wife, Fonda of Hillsboro; one daughter, Barbara "Puddin" Ishmael Mercer and fiancé, Michael J. Hunt of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Ryan Ishmael (Marissa Marshall), Andrew Ishmael (Ashley Easton), Brittany Ishmael (Jeremy Hunt) and Brandon Mercer and wife, Vada; and four great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include two brothers, Andy Hamilton and wife, Linda, and Richard "Rich" Hamilton and wife, Mary Helen, all of Flemingsburg; one sister, Cora Shields and husband, Johnny of Flemingsburg; several nieces and nephews; and many former co-workers, auction family and special friends.

Neva was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She retired from Pioneer Trace Nursing Home where she dedicated many years of service to helping others. She was also co-owner of Hillsboro Auction House and enjoyed collecting collectibles and antiques, gardening and flowers.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Boling and Bro. Gerald Saunders officiating.

Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jake Schlabach, Jimmy Skaggs, Brien Ferguson, Millard Holbrook, David Hamilton, Bobby Hamilton, Scott Mercer, Jack Mahone, Jeff Hay, and Donald Kilgore. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.

Visitation is after 6 p.m., today, Jan. 5, 2011, at Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
