Mr. Thomas

Josephine Holbrook Thomas, 82, died Nov. 17, 2010, at Hospice Care Unit, St. Joseph Hospital with her children and extended family by her side.

She was the wife of the late Clyde Thomas and together they made their home in Ewing for 33 years. She was born in Lawrence County on Aug. 11, 1928, the eighth of nine children, of the late Fual and Arminta Skaggs Holbrook.

She was a member of the Ewing Christian Church.

Survivors include Jacqueline Grannis Dryden Schwartz (Robert) of Nicholasville, Larry E. Grannis (Julia Karnes) of Lexington, Susan Grannis Hart (Kendall) of Lexington, Dennis Grannis-Phoenix (Jackie) of Warren, Maine, Jill Grannis Baker (Jim) Bland of Virginia, Kelly Grannis of Flemingsburg; and brothers, Harold Holbrook (Joycie) of Memphis, Tenn., and Densel Holbrook of Wilmore.

Mrs. Thomas was grandmother to 11 and great-grandmother of four children.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Beulah Hall, Eula Johnson, Mable Vetter, Gusta Kessing, Tyde Holbrook and Julian Holbrook.

Services for Mrs. Thomas will be held today, Nov. 19, 2010, at 5 p.m. at Flemingsburg Christian Church, Flemingsburg.

A celebration of her life will be shared at a reception in the fellowship hall of the church following the service.

A private burial has been chosen by the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ewing Christian Church, Flemingsburg Christian Church or the Hospice Care Unit of your choice.
