Mrs. Jett

Leota Hawkins Jett, 79, of Jett Lane, Wallingford passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg.

Born Dec. 3, 1930, in Fleming County, Leota was the daughter of Eugene and Belle Porter Hawkins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Rae Riggs; one brother, J. B. Hawkins; and her son, William Eugene "Billy" Jett, who passed away Aug. 19, 1994.

Leota is survived by her husband of 62 years, Eugene Jett, whom she married Feb. 25, 1948; one son, Johnny Jett and his wife, Donna of Wallingford; one grandson, Johnny Gene Jett; and two great-grandsons, Jonathan Jett and Nicholas Jett.

She is also survived by one sister, Barbara Dye of Fleming County; four brothers, Danny Hawkins, Ricky Hawkins and Mike Hawkins of Hillsboro and Curtis Hawkins of Fleming County; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jett was employed by the Randall Company for several years and retired from the U.S. Shoe Corporation after 23 years of service. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Ellis and the Rev. Richard Short officiating.

Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leota's four brothers, George Dye and Jimmy Rogers.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today, May 18, 2010, at the Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
