Mr. Scott

William Carley Scott, age 77, a resident of Leitchfield, KY for fifteen years, passed away Saturday (March 13, 2010) at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.

He was born on July 13, 1932, in Flemingsburg, KY, the son of John D. and Iolene Davenport Scott. He was formerly employed at IBM in Lexington, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of KY, and retired from Vermont American Corporate Office in Louisville in 1990. He graduated from the Flemingsburg High School, and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #2 of Paris, KY, and a member of the Kosair Shriners. He enjoyed the U.K. Wildcats, golfing, water skiing, and home cooking. The family feels they would need an entire page to describe how wonderful, witty, and caring their father/husband was, and simply state that he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Boone Scott of Leitchfield; two sons, Stephen C. Scott (Darci) of Louisville, and Dr. C. Jeff Scott (Nancy) of St. Petersburg, Florida; six grandchildren, Sarah, Catie, Hunter, Will, Emily, and Drew Scott; four brothers, George Scott of Independence, KY, James and Marion Day Scott both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jack Scott of Ocala Florida; several nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Wanda Cleveland, Merilyn Searcy, and Mary C. Scott; four brothers, John Scott, Jr., Robert A. Scott, Jesse Scott, and Kenny Scott.

Cremation was chosen, and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. The Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield is in charge of arrangements.

There will be no formal services, but the family welcomes and would greatly appreciate any personal remembrances you would like to share with them, either written or in person.

Mr. Ward

MAYSVILLE -- James Allen Ward, 56, of Lexington and formerly of Maysville, died March 8, 2010.

He was born Feb. 22, 1954, to the late Julia F. and James C. Ward.

James was preceded in death by three brothers, Austin E, Wilson, Tom Wilson and Robert C. Wilson; and one sister, Bonnie Hilterbrand.

He is survived by one son, Shane Ward of Flemingburg; three sisters, Julia Ellis, Shirley Meyer and Judy Willison, all of Maysville. and one brother, Dan Mattox of Flemingsburg.

Mrs. Dorsey

FLEMINGSBURG -- Martha Avent Eubank Dorsey died Monday morning, March 15, 2010, after a brief residency at the Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg.

She was born April 23, 1918, in Limestone County, Ala., the daughter of Olivia Kelly Eubank Pryor and Henry Eubank, who was the deputy sheriff of Limestone County, Ala.

Martha came to Kentucky when her mother married Rev. Samual Pleasant Pryor and he was assigned minister of the Presbyterian Church of Flemingsburg.

Martha was married to Bernard Dorsey, who died March 15, 2003.

Mrs. Dorsey attended Eastern Kentucky University and Pikeville College. She was a home economics teacher at Fleming County High School until her retirement. She was a member of the Flemingsburg Presbyterian Church and the D.A.R.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Dorsey Ramey (late Charles Ramey) of Elizaville and Mary Jane Dorsey Evans (Glenn Evans) of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren, Kristopher K. Ramey, Amanda K. Ramey, Robert S. Ramey (Ashley J. Ramey) and Olivia Evans; and a brother, William Eubank.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Parker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Flemingsburg Presbyterian Church of Flemingsburg or the FCCLA Chapter at Fleming County High School.
