Mrs. Burke

Emma Pearl Kissick DeBord Burke, age 83, of Lower Licking Road, Morehead, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at her home.

Born July 6, 1927, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Henry Newton and Nannie Ezetta Spence Kissick. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lou Spurlock, and one infant son, Barry Bryan Burke. Her first husband, John Bunyan “J. B.” DeBord, passed away in 1960; and her second husband, Cleo Burke, in 1998.

Mrs. Burke is survived by three daughters, Lillian Ruth Fawns of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Vivian Kay Kemp and husband Robert of Ewing, Kentucky, and Linda Sue Gray and husband Riley of Westfield, Indiana; two sons, John David DeBord and wife Carol of Morehead, Kentucky, and Larry Gale Burke of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; four brothers, Carl Kissick, John Kissick and wife Ruby, and Homer Kissick and wife Barbara, all of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Ronald Kissick of Muncie, Indiana; and one sister, Zona Shelley of Hillsboro, Kentucky.

Other survivors include 10 grandchildren—Vanessa Lynn Warder, Marty Eugene Kemp, Curt Edward Fawns, Randy Keith Kemp, Darrin Lee Fawns, John David DeBord Jr., Christopher James DeBord, Eric Wayne DeBord, Kyla Rae Willis, and Bryan Lewis Burke; 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson; 2 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; 2 step great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Mrs. Burke was a homemaker, farmer, and member of the Bluebank First Church of God. She loved going to church and spending time with her family.

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Bluebank First Church of God with Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Visitation was after 5 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.

Mr. Romans

Darrell Wayne Romans, age 60, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.

Born February 28, 1950, in Grayson, Kentucky, he is the son of William “Bill” Romans of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, and the late Ruth Colegrove Romans Redmon. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Edwin Romans.

In addition to his father, Darrell is also survived by one son, Darrell Scott Romans of Salt Lick, Kentucky; one daughter, Dorothy Mechelle Romans of Olympia, Kentucky; and six grandchildren.

Other survivors include three brothers, Donald Ray Romans of West Liberty, Kentucky, Junior L. Romans of Ivel, Kentucky, Eddie D. Romans of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Rev. Tom Redmon of Morehead, Kentucky, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Darrell was a former heavy equipment operator and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tom Redmon officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery in Bath County.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
