Victim of accident identified

The Fleming County coroner has released the identity of a 13-year-old girl who was killed Wednesday morning after being hit by a car.

The incident happened at about 6 a.m. on Highway 32 in Elizaville. Police say the victim, Amber Choate, had stayed at her grandmother's house overnight and was walking to her house, located across the street, when she was hit.

Choate was an eighth-grader at Simons Middle School, which held a moment of silence for her.

According to WLEX-TV in Lexington, the Fleming County deputy coroner has confirmed that a 13-year-old girl was killed Wednesday morning after being hit by a vehicle.

The incident happened at about 6 a.m. on Highway 32 in Elizaville. So far, police have not released any other details.
