Mr. Howell

Ronald (Joe) Howell, 61, of Flemingsburg died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born Aug. 26, 1949, in Lewis County. Ronald has been a self-employed carpenter and also worked for Bruner's Lumber Company, Judy's Construction and Graham's Lumber Company over the years. He was a talented musician and played the guitar for two gospel quartets in the area, the Nobleman Quartet and the Crusaders Quartet. He was an ordained minister and received a bachelor of ministry degree from the Sonshine School of Evangelism in St. Paul. He also served as minister of the Petersville Church of Christ in Wallingford, Antioch Church of Christ in Mason County and Macon Church of Christ in Macon, Ohio. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Foxport and served in the position as deacon.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beulah Doyle Howell, whom he married on Aug. 23, 1968.

Ronald had two daughters, Melita Howell Lowe and husband, Timothy Lowe of Pike County and Michelle Howell Watson and husband, Kevin Watson of Wallingford; four grandchildren, Jeremiah and Laura Lowe of Pike County and Ariel and Devin Watson of Wallingford.

Ronald was the son of the late Walter and Louise (Clark) Howell; paternal grandparents were the late Charlie and Rebecca Howell; maternal grandparents, the late Herman and Jewel Clark.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Howell Jr. who died in infancy.

Ronald had two brothers, Arnold and Jackie Howell of Wallingford; and three sisters, Roberta Prater, Judy Thurman of Wallingford and Connie Carpenter of Flemingsburg. We miss him and love him very much. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Lord, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4: 7 and 8.

Services for Mr. Howell will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. Minister Hilliary Underwood and Bro. Arnold Howell will officiate.

Burial will follow the services in Martin Cemetery.

Visitation will be at after 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home.
