Lake Kelly

Lake Kelly, 75, of Flemingsburg, husband of Martha Randall Kelly died Thursday morning, March 5, 2009.
Mr. Kelly was retired from the Fleming County School System where he was basketball coach and principal. Mr. Kelly served as assistant coach at Austin Peay State University 1969-1971 and was head coach there in 1971-1977 where he had a record of 110-52 and was three times OVC Champ, with two trips to the NCAA; he also was an assistant coach to Joe B. Hall at the University of Kentucky in 1983-1985; and in 1993 served as assistant principal at the Flemingsburg Elementary School and was the head basketball coach. His Fleming County High School team made two trips to the Kentucky State Tournament, once in 1998 and again in 1999, with a record of 134-89.
Lake was born in Flemingsburg on Oct. 4, 1933, to the late Edward J. and Winder Dudley Kelly. He is survived by his wife, Martha; one daughter, Jane (Rob) Tenyer of Morehead; two sons, Lake Kelly Jr. of Flemingsburg and Brian (Gloria) Kelly of Franklin, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Grace Kelly, Emma Kelly, Annie Kelly, Drew Kelly and Brook Tenyer; and two nephews, Jimmy and Kelly Fox.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Kelly Fox; and a brother, Edward James Kelly.
Services are 2 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Fleming County High School Gymnasium with Rev. Doug Craven officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m., Saturday at the Fleming County High School.
