Mr. Grannis

Robert Lee Grannis, 80, of Elizaville died Aug. 8, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. He was a landowner farmer and also owned and operated a dairy trucking business in Fleming County for several years. He served as sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Christian Church in Cowan, attended the Elizaville Christian Church and served on the board of Kentucky Charolais Association and Tennessee Walking Spotted Horse Association for several years.

He was born Feb. 25, 1930, in Fleming County and was the son of Jack Eckles Grannis and Lucille Estill Grannis. Surviving are his wife, Martha Alexander Grannis; a daughter, Molly Hall of Aberdeen, Ohio; two sons, Billy (Jackie) McCord and Gayle (Glennissa) McCord, both of Ewing; six grandchildren, Brandon Grannis, Adam McCord, Staci Arrasmith, Daniel McCord, Lance Selby and Kelsey McCord; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Bruce Grannis of Flemingsburg and Sidney Scott Grannis of Cynthiana; one sister, Betty Lou Donaldson of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his first wife, Jeanette Brewer Grannis; and his son, Gary Lane Grannis; two brothers, Jimmy Grannis and Jackie Grannis; and one sister Ruth Colterill.

Services are 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at Denton-Workman Funeral Home Chapel, Flemingsburg. Rev. Rich Anderson and Bro. James Paul Humphries will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery in Elizaville, with full military rites.

Visitation is today, Aug. 10, 2010, 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
