Ira Lee Vice

1920 – 2010

MT. STERLING – Ira Lee Vice, age 89, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.

Born March 8, 1920, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Albert and Henrietta Hudson Vice. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ada Pearl Carpenter Vice.

Ira Lee is survived by one son, Arnold Vice and wife Maxine of Winchester, Kentucky; two daughters, Wilma McCarty and husband Earl of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Linda White of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Tom Vice of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Charles Vice of Lexington, Kentucky, and four sisters, Alma Vice and Edna Henry, both of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Bertie Razor of Fleming County, Kentucky, and Virginia Brooks of Lexington, Kentucky.

Ira Lee was a retired farmer and member of Ephesus Baptist Church in Winchester, Kentucky.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010, at the Reid Village Baptist Church, 1957 Winchester Road, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.

Funeral services will be conducted 8 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010, at Reid Village Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Radar, Rev. Drew Martin, and Rev. Gary Conner officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, in Machpelah Cemetery.

Pallbearers: B. J., Earl, Ed, Joe, Wally, Sam, and Jason Johnson.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bobby Anderson, Tony Blevins, Rex Wells, Paul Williams, Billy Richmond, Doug Morris, John Baker, Frank Caudill, Steve Billings, and Stewart Morton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351

Gary Earl Pendland, age 57, passed away Friday, February 12, 2010, at his residence. He was born on April 25, 1952, in Akron, Ohio, the son of Idas Roush Pendland, of Flemingsburg, Kentucky and the late Thamur Pendland. He was united in marriage to Christine Hammock Pendland, who resides in London, Kentucky. He is also survived by two daughters: April Clausing and husband, Ryan, of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Kristie Brandenburg, and husband, Bobby, of London, Kentucky, two sons: Price Pendland of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and Ben Pendland of London, Kentucky, seven grandchildren: Dalton, Cody and Madison Pendland, Emily and Abby Clausing and Destiny and Vanessa Brandenburg, a brother-in-law: Herman Hammock and wife, Pearl, of London, Kentucky.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Gold Prospector Association of America and a member of Campground United Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, February 15, 2010, at Bowling Funeral Home in London, Kentucky, with Dale Wyatt and Tim Owens officiating. Burial followed in the Lichliter Cemetery in London, Kentucky. Pallbearers were Bobby Brandenburg, Ryan Clausing, Price and Ben Pendland, Bill Ishmael, Herman Hammock, Jerry Ray and Albert Furr and honorary pallbearer and special friend, Jasper Gross.
