Mrs. Rice

Carrie Rice, 95, of Detroit, Mich. died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at the retirement home in Detroit.

She was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Fleming County to Edward and Mary Crump Rice.

She was a retired health care provider in Michigan.

She is survived by a daughter, Tonya Randolph; two grandchildren, Christianson, age 12 and Angel, age 3, all of Michigan; one brother, Wilbert Rice of Flemingsburg; two sisters, Bessie Warner of Washington and Margaret Gibbs of Columbus, Ohio; three goddaughters; one godson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, John Harvey Rice, James Rice, Joe Rice and Eugene (Gene) Rice; and four sisters, Rebecca Matthews, Myrtle Peters, Mary Zella Taylor, and Amy McKee, and one grandson, Kamarl.

Services were at the First Church of the Redeemed 9360 Van Dyke, Detroit, Mich.

Burial will be in the Fleming County Cemetery with graveside services on Monday, July 5, 2010.

Mr. Clark

Waltham B. Clark, 86, died Friday morning July 2, 2010, at Clark County Regional Hospital.

He was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Floyd County to the late John D. and Rebecca Hall Clark.

He was a retired machinist at Rockwell International and a veteran of World War II where he received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He was married to the former Maxine Selby and they resided in Winchester.

He was preceded in death by a foster son, Donald Underwood; and four brothers, Ishmael, Dempsey, Stallard and Kennard Clark.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Roger D. Clark of Winchester; two sisters, Rebecca Herbert of Fleming County and Alice Craycraft of Maysville; six grandchildren, Amy Whistle, Ronnie Clark, Tiffany Clark, Kimberly Clark, Donna Grayley and Bryan Underwood; and a host of great-grandchildren.

Services are 1 p.m., Monday, July 5, 2010, at the Boone - Nickell Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post No. 5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834. Visitation will be after 11 a.m., Monday at the funeral home.
