Mrs. Brandy

Ruby Carr Prather Brandy, 87, died Dec. 6, 2010, at her home in Cincinnati surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late George Early and Lizzie Carr Prather of Flemingsburg.

She was a graduate of John G. Fee High School in Maysville and retired from the Westin Hotel in Cincinnati. She was married to the late Robert Squire Brandy. To this union, 11 children were born.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Strawberry United Methodist Church which was founded by her grandfather, the late Robert Carr. She was a member of Hope Temple Church in Cincinnati.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Lake Taylor, Allie Taylor, Frank Taylor, and Robert "Marion" Prather; a sister, Annie Lee Taylor; two sons, Robert Squire Brandy Jr. and Donald Brandy; a baby girl, and a special friend, Mary Alice Bush.

She leaves to cherish her memory, Deloris Brandy, Newell Brandy, Wilma Foster, Calvin (Deborah) Brandy, Pastor Paula (Brodmon) Drakeford, Kenneth Brandy, Vincent (Robin) Brandy and Julia Brandy, all of Cincinnati; a brother, Calbert Prather of Flemingsburg; 30 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Mr. Hawkins

Warren Garnette Hawkins, 77, of Tilton, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 in Hillsboro.

He was born July 8, 1933 to the late William Hawkins and Imogene Carter Hawkins.

Warren served in the Korean Conflict for the United States Army. He was a window washer for the Chicago Board of Education.

He is survived by two daughters, Victoria (Anthony) Ball of Wallingford and Debbie Hawkins; a sister, Barbara Hankin of Chicago.; three grandchildren, Rory (Shawna) Strahm II, Sgt. Shea (Tiffany) Hawkins and Chris Hawkins; three great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Phyllis Moeller of Tilton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Hawkins and William Hawkins.

Services were Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010 at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home. Dr. Chris Beckman officiated.

Ms. Sexton

Connie F. Sexton, 47, of Hamilton, Ohio departed from this life on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010.

She was born on Aug. 21, 1963 to Arthur Thomas and Mabel Reed Sexton in Flemingsburg.

She graduated from Fleming County High School in 1981. She was in ROTC at Morehead State University where she earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology. She also served in the Kentucky Guard and was a Quartermaster Officer in the Maysville Army Reserve Unit. She received additional training in robotics at Miami University and worked for Bushman Conveyor, Henny Penny and Huffy. Connie earned a licensed practical nurse degree from Butler Tech in June of 2004. She excelled in this field and truly devoted herself to her patients. She currently worked at Southwest Home Health as a Home Health Nurse providing comfort and care to disabled children.

Survivors include a twin sister, Bonnie Sexton (Robb Jensen) of Woodbridge, Va.; sisters, Brenda Sexton-Cooper of Hillsboro and Judy (Chris) Muse of Wallingford; her life partner of 18 years, Gina Gentile of Hamilton, Ohio; two nephews, Samuel Muse of Flemingsburg and Austin Williams of Hillsboro; an uncle, Roy Cleadith (Helena) Reed of Portland, Ind.; as well as several cousins.

She was preceded in death by a nephew, Jeremiah Lee Muse; and a brother-in-law, Rick Cooper; as well as her parents and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

A memorial service will follow visitation at 6 p.m. Monday at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home in Flemingsburg.

Visitation will be 4 - 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mabry

Wilma Mae Kilgore Mabry, age 62, of Pond Lick Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010, at her residence.

She was born March 29, 1948, in Lewis County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Parthena Logan Kilgore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Otha Kilgore.

Her husband, Dewey Earl Mabry, preceded her in death on September 1, 1994.

Mrs. Mabry is survived by two sons, James “Jim” Mabry and wife Ronnica of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and Mark Mabry of Morehead, Kentucky; five brothers, Virgil Kilgore, Kermit Kilgore, Joe Kilgore, and Troy Kilgore, all of Lewis County, and Vernon Kilgore of Carter County; three sisters, Mary Kelsey of Lewis County, Wanda Wagoner and Debra Enix, both of Carter County; one granddaughter, Brianna Mabry; and honorary granddaughter, Nikita Dell.

Mrs. Mabry was a homemaker, a caregiver, and former employee of Chef America in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. She enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She was of the Church of God Faith.

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Jordan officiating. Burial was in the Mabry Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eddie Riddle, Eric Kilgore, Greg Orcutt, Aaron Kilgore, Timmy Kilgore, Trey Kilgore, and Ronald Logan.
