Leon Pettit, age 84, of Winchester, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Peebles, Ohio.
He was born in Grange City, Kentucky on December 11, 1924, the son of the late Tobe and Helen Bradshaw Pettit.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert and Robert Pettit, and one sister, Madge Wakeley.
Leon was a member of the Johnson Church of God in Grange City, Kentucky, and a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Hazel Barber Pettit of Winchester, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Janis Pettit of Winchester, Ohio; two brothers, Vernon Pettit of Grange City, Kentucky, and Emerson Pettit of Jamestown, Ohio; two sisters; Nellie Taylor of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and Lovell Caudill of Grange City, Kentucky; one step grandson; Darren Underhill of Winchester, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hutton Funeral Home with Randall Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday, August 9, 2009, from 1:00 till 2:00 P.M. at the Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Kentucky
