Rev. Cooper

Rev. Buford E. Cooper, 88, of Wallingford died Wednesday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.
Rev. Cooper was an ordained minister with the Kentucky Christian Conference in 1973 and was general Sunday school superintendent for eight years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in both World War II and the Korean War.
He was born in Lewis County on July 16, 1920. His parents were the late Robert Cooper and the late Hanson and Maggie Sapp.

He is survived by his wife, June Polley Cooper of Wallingford; one daughter, Lisa (Steve) Newsom of Muses Mills; three grandchildren, Amber (David) DeAtley, Allison Newsom and Tyler Newsom, all of Muses Mills; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Abigail DeAtley of Muses Mill; four sisters, Bonnie Hamlin of Elijay, Ga., Thelma Gulley of Flemingsburg, Brooks Sexton of Minford, Ohio, and Wanda (Kenneth) Evans of Vanceburg; and a special sister-in-law, Olive Lewis of Cincinnati.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and son; and one brother, Warren Sapp.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Reeves and Rev. Ronnie Conley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mount Tabor Cemetery in Ribolt.
Visitation is after 5 p.m., today at the funeral home.
