Traffic stop brings drug bust

DSC_0538 By Shelley Gulley

Staff Writer

Good Friday was marred early in the afternoon by a traffic stop that turned into a drug bust.

When Police Chief Randy Sergent and Sherriff Jarrod Wagoner pulled over a 2000 GMC Jimmy on Maysville Road that had been reported stolen by Joseph Coleman they not only found evidence that the vehicle did not belong to the driver but they also found drugs.

The driver of the vehicle, Allison Williams, was arrested for receiving stolen property and transported to Mason County Detention Center and will face charges in Fleming County. Husband, Monte Williams will be held in Mason County Detention center and face drug charges in Fleming County and other charges from Rowan County.

After a search of the vehicle drugs were found, according to Sergent.

“The boy is receiving drug charges because the drugs were found on his side of the vehicle,” Sergent said.

“This all could have been solved two months ago if he just would have given me my car back,” Coleman said, “he had been straightening up and I let him use my car to go back and forth to school at Morehead State University, but I asked for it back.”

At the scene Williams told Sergent and Wagoner that the vehicle was not stolen.

Coleman said that this is not the only time he has known of the Williams couple to steal.

“Some of the tools around my house were missing, and I found a pawn slip so I went to the pawn shop. They weren’t my tools, they belonged to Morehead State,” he said although he is not sure if MSU is working on a case.

Passengers in the vehicle included the Williams’ young son, who was picked up by his grandparents and another man who said, “That vehicle is not stolen that man is just trying to give them a hard time.”
