Mr. Coffey

James Louis "Louie" Coffey, 84, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 9, at Fleming County Hospital.

He was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Elizaville, to the late William and Louise Coffey.

Mr. Coffey was retired from GTE after 28 years of service. He served as the area construction supervisor at the time of his retirement . He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hickerson Coffey; three daughters, Marcella Cooper of Flemingsburg, Cindy Hester of Ashland and Lita (Wes) Story of Wallingford; two sisters, Dorothy Willet and Betty Schaffer; nine grandchildren, Amanda (Tommy) Bigelow, Devona (Greg) Dotson, Brian Keith Hester, Nickie Dawn (Matt) Smith, Sophrina (Stephen) Story, Becky Glasscock, Danielle Marie Story, Bradley Neal Story and Jordan Clay Story; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Coffey; three sisters, Mary Margaret Fern, Polly Hartley and Anna Marie Carpenter; and a brother, Bill Coffey.

Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday Oct. 13, at St. Charles Catholic Church.

Visitation will be at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home from 6 - 9 p.m., Tuesday.

Burial will follow in Elizaville Cemetery.

Military rites will be preformed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.
