Mr. Sloas

Donnie Lee Sloas, age 72, of Ewing, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospice in Lexington, Kentucky.

Born February 26, 1938, in Plummers Landing, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Erma and Ova Adkins Sloas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmo Sloas, Bobby Sloas, and Glennis Sloas, and one son, Kendall Sloas.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Wilma Humphries Sloas; three sons, Alan Sloas and wife Mary of Jackson, Kentucky, Greg Sloas of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and Rodney Cummings and wife Heather of Hillsboro, Kentucky; one daughter, Stephanie Smith and husband Mark of Ewing, Kentucky; and five grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Elizabeth Wagner and husband John of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Jolene Brown and husband Gene of Morehead, Kentucky, and Jeri Wagner and husband Mike of Plummers Landing, Kentucky, and several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Donnie was a former parts manager for Eldridge Brothers Chrysler and a former mechanic for Cheap’s Chevrolet in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lonnie Shoemaker, Doug Gulley, Ricky Humphries, Darren Pollock, Johnny Wagner, and Harold Humphries.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.
