Mr. Thomas

James Cooper Thomas Sr., 82, died on March 28, 2009, at Fleming County Hospital. Eldest son of the late James Cooper Thomas and Marybelle Proctor Thomas of Maysville, Ky., he was the former owner and president of Cin-Day Food Brokers, Ft. Mitchell, Ky. He served in the Marine Corps during WW II in the South Pacific.

He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, a member of Sigma Phi Fraternity and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Flemingsburg. He was an active member in the Republican Party of Kentucky and an avid golfer as past president of the Fleming County Golf Association, and past president of the Cincinnati Food Brokers Association.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ann Gray Thomas and two sons, Dr. James C. Thomas, Jr. (Laura) of Las Vegas and Jeffrey Gray Thomas of Los Angeles and two granddaughters, Lindsey Gray Thomas of Santa Monica and Jamie Little of Los Angeles.

Suggested expressions of sympathy are contributions to the Fleming County Hospital of the Fleming County Library.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home with visitation from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Fleming County Cemetery with military rites by the local American Legion and VFW.

Mrs. Jolley

Ruby Frances Flora Jolley, 83, of Flemingsburg died Saturday.
She was born in Fleming County on June 11, 1925, to the late George W. and Mary Hannah Lyman Flora.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond M. Jolley, of Flemingsburg; a daughter, Paula (Chris) Lee, of Lapel, Ind.; two sisters, Geneva Owens, of Versailles and Leilla Mae (Jewell) Call, of Flemingsburg; three brothers, Estell Flora, of Poplar Plains, Fred (Eula) Flora, of Poplar Plains, and Tommie (Mary) Flora, of Lexington; and six grandchildren, Kaylah Overby, Kathryn Lee, Christopher Lee, Jessica Mayher, Lisa Shields, and Tara Jones.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Tester; a son, Gary W. Jolley; and three brothers, Paul, Clyde Robert and Morgan Leford Flora.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Burnett and Rev. Chris Lee Officiating. Burial in the Elizaville Cemetery.
Visitation after 6 p.m., today at the funeral home.
