Mr. Reed

Richard Earl Reed, Jr., age 54, of Maxey Flat Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010, at the V. A. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Born May 26, 1956, in Covington, Kentucky, he is the son of Wynema Reed of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Richard Earl Reed, Sr., who passed away October 17, 1997. He was also preceded in death by one son, Jonathan Reed, and one daughter, Jessica Reed.

In addition to his mother, Rick is also survived by one son, Joseph Reed of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; one daughter, Angela Reed of Orlando, Florida; one stepdaughter, Nettie Rose Jolly of Muses Mill, Kentucky; two brothers, Ronald D. Reed of Anchorage, Alaska, and Roger Dale Reed of Alexandria, Kentucky; and four sisters, Debora Lynn Hamilton of Morehead, Kentucky, Carol Ford of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Sharon Kay Williams of Maxey Flat, Kentucky, and Donna Louise Crum of Morehead, Kentucky.

Other survivors include several grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Rick served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed all of nature—especially hunting, fishing, and camping—and spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Winston McClurg and the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Prince Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Pallbearers: Roger Cox, Danny Thompson, David Cox, Jimmy Cox, Elbert Cox, and Clarence Morris.

Honorary Pallbearers: Mark Williams, Patrick Crum, Darrell Ford, Teddy Ginter, Bret Hamilton, Greg Hamilton, Eric Williams, and Don Cox.

Visitation was Monday, December 20, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
