MSU Eagles honored in Frankfort

MSU bball 0310-2 FRANKFORT – The Kentucky State Senate today adopted Senator Walter Blevins’ resolution honoring the Morehead State Eagles on winning the OVC Championship and advancing to the NCAA tournament for the first time in 25 years.

Mr. Gilbert

John Anthony Gilbert, 34, of Flemingsburg, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, in an auto accident in Danville.
He was born June 11, 1974, in Lorain, Ohio, to Jack Allen Gilbert and Brenda Wright Gilbert of Flemingsburg.
John was an iron worker.
He is survived by his son, Kyler Mathew Gilbert of Clearfield; a daughter, Shelby Jewel Gilbert of Clearfield; a brother, Jackie (Kim) Gilbert of Augusta; a sister, Brittany Gilbert of Flemingsburg; paternal grandparent, Dorcus Gilbert of Vanceburg; maternal grandparent, Mary Wright Wedington of Garrison; and a niece, Madyson Gilbert.
Services will be Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Dickerson Funeral Home. Rev. Clarence Hall will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens, Vanceburg.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today and 8 a.m.- 1 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Yazell

Ralph Lewis Yazell, 74, of Wallingford, died Friday, March 6, 2009.
He was the sexton of Goddard Cemetery and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Yazell was born June 5, 1934, in Flemingsburg, the son of the late Curtis M. and Bessie Hurst Yazell.
He is survived by a sister, Emma Louise Richmond of Wallingford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Manning.
Services are 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2009, in the chapel at Denton-Workman Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Goddard Cemetery where military rites will be performed.
Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
