Mrs. Shields

Mildred Butler Shields, 82, passed away Oct. 16, 2009, at Fleming County Hospital.
She was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Muses Mill to the late James and Iva Whisman Butler.
Survivors include four sons, Jackie (JoAnn) Shields, Steve (Brenda) Shields, Rocky (Toni) Shields and Richard Shields; three daughters, Shirley (Bill) Cooper, Joyce (Ernie) Gulley and Bonnie (Jimmy) DeAtley, all of Fleming County; six grandchildren, Patricia Hart, Dennis DeAtley, James DeAtley, Jared DeAtley, Denise Brown and Amy York; and nine great-grandchildren.
Two sisters also survive, Mina Littleton of Morehead and Mary Opal Helphinstine of Hillsboro; one brother, Clyde Butler of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Delmar Shields; one daughter, Edna Pauline Shields; three sons, James Kenneth, Larry and Brian Shields; and one brother, Audrey Butler.
Services were Sunday, Oct. 18 at Muses Mill Christian Church.
Visitation at the church was Sunday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
Burial was in Newman Cemetery.
Contributions can be made to the Newman Cemetery Fund or the Muses Mill Cemetery Fund.
Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
