Jeanette Thackston Barger, 76, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Hillsboro, Kentucky, died on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa.
Born August 20, 1933, in Aberdeen, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ruby Frances Riley and William Hosten Thackston. In addition to her parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by one son, Cecil Austin; and two brothers, Charles Thackston and George Thackston.
She is survived by two sons, Melvin Austin of Burlington, Iowa, and Roger Austin of Coffeyville, Kansas; one daughter, Frances Lent of Ft. Pierce, Florida; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Charme Gaither of Panama City, Florida, Patricia Snider Holt of Lexington, Kentucky, and Nancy Snider May of Peebles, Ohio; and two brothers, Alvin Thackston of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Steven Kenley of Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Bro. Gerald Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at the Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.
