Mr. Tumey

Arthur William "P.I." Tumey, 86, of Ewing, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his residence.

Arthur was born in Fleming County May 28, 1924 to James Franklin and Ada Ellen Ritchie Tumey.

Arthur was a farmer, a veteran of World War II receiving a Purple Heart in the Asian Campaign, an avid Road Horseman and received the Horseman of the Year award in Kentucky five times.

Arthur is survived by three sons, David (Judy) Tumey, Barry (Joyce) Tumey and William "Bob" Tumey; three daughters, Geneva (Estill) Helphenstine, Donna (Jeff) Boles, and Sue Tumey; nine grandchildren, Angel Hunt, Dwayne Tumey, David Tumey, Penny Arnett, Stephanie Helphenstine, Barry Tumey Jr., Michael Tumey, Jeff Boles and Bradley Tumey; 13 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four siblings, James Reuban, Robert Samuel, Edward Franklin and Lula Jane Tumey; and one granddaughter, Terra Sue Tumey.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today at Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville with Rev. Greg Grimes officiating. Burial in the Elizaville Cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation was from 6 - 9 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
