Mrs. Hurd

Dorothy D. Hurd, 80, of Flemingsburg, died Dec. 22, 2010 at Fleming County Hospital.

She was the widow of James Hurd.

She was born Oct. 26, 1930, to Late Thomas and Lena Breeze Dillon.

Dorothy was a retired secretary and co-owner of Shannon and Hurd Construction Company, former co-owner of Crestview Mobile Home Park and Southridge Plaza Shopping Center, former co-owner of BSH Cattle Company, co-owner of Lakeview Farm and longtime member of Flemingsburg Baptist Church and former member of Foxport Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Patty (Clyde) Atherton; one son, Steve (Ramona) Hurd, both of Flemingsburg; six grandchildren, Laura and Lindsay Atherton, Natalie (Darren) Pettit, Emily, Stuart Hurd; three brothers, Mark (June) Dillon, Jerry (Jean) Dillon and Barry Dillon, all of Fleming County; three sisters, Alberta Barker of Fleming County, Wanda (James) Owens of Cincinnati, and Judy Denton of Flemingsburg; one sister-in-law, Peggy Dillon of Cincinnati; one brother-in-law, Ed Post of Erie, Penn.; and mother-in-law, Rose Hurd of Erlanger.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Blair Hurd; a brother, Mark Dillon; and a sister, Ruth Post.

Services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at Flemingsburg Baptist Church. Dr Chris Beckham will be Officiating.

Memorial donations maybe made to Foxport Baptist Church or Flemingsburg Baptist Church.

Arrangements are by the Denton-Workman Funeral Home.
