Mr. Basford

Ervin Paul "Jack" Basford, 81, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, peacefully at home.

He was born Jan. 26, 1930, in Rowan County, to the late John and Iva Braggs Basford.

He was the widower of Ruth Ann Williams Basford, whom he was married to for 44 years.

Jack was a retired logger and was employed at Randall's for several years. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He attended Plummers Landing Christian Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Mae and Ricky Jones and his son, Jackie and Nancy Basford, all of Flemingsburg; a sister, Gus Purvis of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Buzz and Laura Ballard, Tonya Ballard Gulley, Shauna Jones, Donita Jones, Paul and Sandra Basford, Gary Basford, Andrea and Robert Stegall, Jacquelyn Basford, Kevin and Jennifer Basford, Tracy Bussell, and Matthew Vice; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Including his mother and father, he was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb.15, 2010, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 6- 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a memorial fund for the family in care of the funeral home or to the Cancer Care Club.
