Mrs. Gardner

Ethel E. Gardner, 95, of Tilton, died Monday, March 28, 2011, at Fleming County Hospital.

She was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Silver Creek, Wis., to the late William and Ida Geske.

She had been a cook at Hillsboro Elementary School and also worked at Lerman’s in Flemingsburg for 18 years, been a foster grandparent at Hillsboro Elementary for nine years and been a caregiver for the elderly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody Gardner; a son, William McElwee; a sister, Evelyn Glenn; and two brothers, Williard and Elmer Geske.

Survivors include a son, David and (Ruth Ann) McElwee of Decatur, Ill.; a daughter, Mary Ann and (Ricky) Pendland of Tilton; a granddaughter, Kerri Lynn Pendland Moran of Tilton; and other grandchildren, Rocky, Jennifer, Scott, Sherri Lynn, Leigh Ann, Tresha Kay, Evelyn L. and Sondra; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Winifred Sorrentino of Chippewa Falls, Wis.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2011, at Boone - Nickell Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
