Motorists: Drive with caution in high winds

Parts of northeast Kentucky under severe weather warnings

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. – With severe weather advancing across eastern Kentucky, motorists should drive with caution as high winds could down trees or power lines.

Motorists should watch for debris in or near roadway travel lanes, as well as watch for highway and utility crews clearing roadways. If power outages affect traffic lights:

  • Intersections with lights completely out should be treated as four-way stops.
  • If lights are flashing yellow, proceed with caution.
  • If lights are flashing red, stop until there’s a gap in traffic.

Statewide road condition reports for major routes are available by calling 511 or online at www.511.ky.gov.
