Book Fair is Saturday

When Fleming County author Ron Thomas donated a copy of his new book, Outward & Inward: an Essay Collection to the Fleming County Public Library in late July, he didn’t realize just what he had done. Along with his donation, Thomas also agreed to promote his book with a book talk / book signing. This was the catalyst for the very first Book Fair at the Fleming County Public Library.

Now, about ten weeks later, FCPL’s first Book Fair is soon to be a reality. Twenty-four (24) authors have committed to be on hand to sell and sign copies of their books on Saturday, October 31 at the library. Several are Fleming County authors or authors with Fleming County ties, including Pearl Carpenter Anderson and her brother, Kenny Carpenter, Garry Barker, Dr. Christopher Beckham, Dr. Jack Ellis, E. Wesley Shoemaker, Jr. , Teresa Slack, and of course, Ron Thomas. David Dick, known to most area citizens because of his monthly articles in the Kentucky Living magazine, is scheduled to promote his newest release, Outhouse Blues. Other authors who have accepted an invitation are Nancy K. Allen, Sam Bevard, Fred Brown, Tim Callahan, Steve Demaree, Ron Elliott, Ann H. Gabhart, Chris Holbrook, James McCormick, Paul Prather, Susan Reigler, Bob Sloan, Georgia Green Stamper, Jan Watson and Macy Wyatt. A representative from Usborne Books will be present to offer the public a chance to purchase books for children. Local churches and organizations have been invited to bring their cookbooks to sell that day. Marty Johnson from Café de Morales will also be on hand to showcase his fine selection of coffees.
