Mr. Hall

Robert G. Hall, 80, well-known area basketball coach and educator, died at his home on Bon Haven Drive, Wednesday, March 24, 2010.

Mr. Hall was born in Nicholas County on June 4, 1929, the son of the late Allen and Jessi Lee Throckmorton Hall.

He was a member of the First Christian Church where he taught Sunday School for 50 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Hall was a graduate of Morehead State University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in 1957. He taught for 32 years beginning at Georgetown Training School, then Minerva, Mason County High School, Fleming County High School, Maysville High School, Burgin High School and Bracken County High School.

His coaching career began at Minerva then as assistant at Mason County High School and was head basketball coach at Fleming County, Maysville, Burgin, and Bracken County. He took the 1974 Fleming County High School basketball team and the 1978 Maysville High School basketball team to the state tournament. Coach Hall was a member of the 10th Region Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach.

Mr. Hall taught from 1991 to 2005 at the Maysville Community College.

Bob Hall is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn Clark Hall and daughters Holli (Troy) Lowe, and Heather Hall Stode and also three children by his late wife, Carolyn Warren Hall, Robert Allen (Josephine) Hall, Tammi (Mallory) Denham, Tanya (Michael) Gray; 10 grandchildren, Sara Jo Hall, Clay, Chelsea, and Catie Denham, Carson, Makena Bane and Carolyn Cate Gray, Allison Lowe Hackworth, and Travis Lowe, and Jackson True Strode; one great-grandchild, Halle Marie Hackworth.

Funeral services for Bob Hall will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Steve Lesher, Rev. C. Wayne Barnett, Rev. Randy Taylor, and Rev. Norman Wasson officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Clay Denham, Carson Gray, Travis Lowe, Jack Clarke, John Hackworth, and Rob Hall.

Visitation 5-8 p.m., Friday, March 26 at the church.
